SolSmart Announces New Engagement Partners

The SolSmart program is excited to announce two new community engagement partners focused on expanding solar best practices in Puerto Rico and Indiana! These partners will connect more local governments to the no-cost technical assistance opportunities available through SolSmart. They will place a special focus on underserved communities, rural communities, and communities that have not previously participated in SolSmart.

The Indiana University Environmental Resilience Institute (ERI), based in Bloomington, Indiana (a SolSmart Gold community), brings together leaders in education, business, government, and the community to prepare for environmental changes throughout the Hoosier state. The ERI will be working to bring the benefits of the SolSmart program to even more Indiana communities.

In Puerto Rico, the Cooperativa de Energia La Margarita—Abeyno Coop works to upgrade and modernize electricity in southeastern Puerto Rico, with an emphasis on sustainability and resilience. The cooperativa will expand SolSmart’s presence in the territory and help communities access the resilience benefits of solar through the SolSmart program.
