
DOE Announces the Sunny Awards for Community Solar
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office has announced the American-Made Sunny Awards for Equitable Community Solar (The Sunny Awards), a prize competition that recognizes community solar projects and programs that increase equitable access to the benefits of community solar. Applications will be accepted until July 14. The prize offers five $10,000 Sunny Awards Grand Prizes to the top teams, up to 30 additional $2,500 Sunny Finalist Awards, and up to 15 $5,000 Meaningful Benefits/Engagement Awards.
Community solar project portfolios (including 1 to 5 individual community solar installations) or programs (local government-run initiatives that support the development of community solar projects within a jurisdiction) that serve at least 50% residential customers and were energized on or after January 1, 2020, are eligible.
