Milton, Massachusetts undertook a variety of initiatives to earn a SolSmart Bronze designation, including posting an online solar checklist for residents and updating zoning to be more solar-friendly. Milton also worked to advance solar on an affordable housing development, and has created opportunities for residents to join a Community Electricity Aggregation program and ensure that more of their energy is coming from renewable sources. Furthermore, the SolSmart designation is connected to Milton’s broader efforts to advance sustainability. The city is developing a greenhouse gas inventory, an analysis on the feasibility of a local microgrid project, and recently launched a new Climate Action Planning Committee.
